CERD 104th session summary: Lebanon and the Netherlands
On the 25th of August, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) concluded its 104th session. In this session, the Committee adopted concluding observations on Lebanon and the Netherlands, and the list of issues prior to reporting (LOIPR) on India. It adopted the internal guidelines on the elaboration of General Recommendations. UN: CERD follow-up letters to Colombia, El Salvador, Lithuania and Uzbekistan
At the 104th session which took place online from 9th to 25th August, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) adopted follow-up letters to Colombia, El Salvador, Lithuania and Uzbekistan. Within one year of the adoption of concluding observations, States parties are requested to provide information on the implementation of specific recommendations identified by the CERD (follow-up recommendations), in accordance with Article 9 (1) of the Convention and rule 65 of the rules of procedure. In response to the call for inputs for her next General Assembly report on the 20th anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action (DDPA), IMADR made two submissions to the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, Ms. E. Tendayi Achiume. Submission focused on the States’ cooperation with the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) and the promotion of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).
