Japan: Civil society group updated the UN anti-racism body on the lack of State measures to counter racial discrimination

Japan NGO Network for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (ERD Net) submitted its follow-up report to the the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) default_external link. In August 2014, the Committee examined the periodic reports of Japan and requested information on the State party’s follow-up to the following recommendations in the concluding observations default_external link:

  • Violence against foreign and minority women;
  • Comfort women; and
  • Situation of the Burakumin.
